Can Anxiety Treatment Help?
Psychotherapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for anxiety. Treating anxiety typically begins with an assessment that includes identifying triggers to anxiety, typical responses to the anxiety, how anxiety is felt, the associated cognitions of anxiety (worries/ruminations) and understanding how intense anxiety is under eliciting situations. Treatments for anxiety often involve a gradual exposure to the anxiety causing events, learning how to cope and successfully manage anxiety, practicing exposure to anxiety eliciting conditions in and outside of the therapy session, and learning and preventing relapse. Treatment may also include identifying why it would be important to deal more effectively with anxiety.
